Institute
The Institute was founded in 1998 with the mission of supporting and providing assistance to government, civil society and international development agencies in realizing their mandates in public policy development of United Nations member countries. IIDAC dedicates itself to producing and implementing social technologies in projects directed towards strengthening social networks in academic, governmental, non-governmental and community spheres.
Through its projects, IIDAC stimulates the participation of children, adolescents and youth in discussions and in the realization of its commitment to the Millennium Development Goals. As a result, the Institute promotes, supports and defends the practices of youth protagonism, volunteerism and citizen participation, always respecting the self-determination of the people.
The team of IIDAC is composed of Brazilian and foreign professionals, specialists in project planning and management, dedicated to finding collective and democratic solutions which meet the interests and the determinations of international agendas on human rights.
Over the years, IIDAC has worked with various national and international partners. In 2009, the organization attained Special Consultative Status on the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC). It was also registered as CSO in the Organization of American States (OAS).
IIDAC continues its ethical commitment to work to reduce inequalities, improve the quality of live, combat violence, promote ethno-racial and gender equality, and to spread culture and education on human rights. The Institute fosters individual and collective economic growth and stimulates social development for the creation of a world without divisions and preconceptions where protagonism, development and citizenship are rights of all people.
Values
IIDAC believes that sustainable human development may only be attained through the promotion of human dignity, the absolute respect of human rights and a commitment to the values of liberty, justice, equality, solidarity, cooperation, tolerance and peace.
Mission
PROMOTING DEMOCRACY AND PARTICIPATION
The embodiment of democracy requires various forms of participation that broaden the possibilities of the vocalization and expression of a continually growing number of people, in particular younger generations. IIDAC stimulates, promotes and supports the mobilization of children, adolescents and youth in practices of volunteerism and youth protagonism, with their direct participation in public policy development. The Institute recognizes these social groups as strategic actors for sustainable development and as individuals that are essential for strengthening democracy.
FOSTERING COOPERATION FOR DEVELOPMENT
In cooperation with the government, the private sector, civil society and communities, IIDAC connects people and organizations with knowledge, experiences and resources, working together to strengthen local capacities and provide access to human and technical resources, through national and international cooperation and through its extensive network of partners. Applying this cooperation and collective capacities in the search for solutions to social problems and challenges for sustainable development, IIDAC develops, disseminates and applies social technologies, on a large scale, envisioning their transformation into public policies in support of sustainable human development.
